NBA 2K23 Release Date & Features: 10 Things You Need to Know

We don’t have an official NBA 2K23 release date yet, but here’s what you need to know now about NBA 2K23 based on tradition, rumours, and what we expect from the annual release.

NBA 2K22 is still the flagship game, but that will almost certainly change later this year when 2K Sports and Visual Dynamics announce a new entry in the long-running series.

We don’t have much official NBA 2K23 news and it may be weeks before we learn more about 2K Sports’ plans for the popular basketball sim. While it’s still early days, we know a lot of gamers have questions about NBA 2K23, so we’ll outline everything you can expect in this guide.

Here’s a closer look at what you can expect from NBA 2K23 features, release dates, editions, demos, and more.

NBA 2K23 Launch Date

If tradition persists, the initial announcement of NBA 2K23 will likely come sometime in June or July.

Last year, the company teased NBA 2K22 in July. Prior to that, NBA 2K21 was confirmed in June while the first trailer for NBA 2K20 arrived in July.

It’s worth noting that early NBA 2K announcements aren’t usually very detailed, so don’t expect Game 2K and Visual Concepts to feature most of the game early on. That could obviously change this year, but don’t hold your breath.

NBA 2K23 Release Date

We don’t have an official NBA 2K23 release date yet and we won’t get one until the company is ready to start talking about the game.

As of now, you can expect the NBA 2K23 release date to land sometime in September ahead of Black Friday and the 2022 holiday season.

We also didn’t see early access last year so there’s probably no way to play NBA 2K23 before its official release date. In the past, 2K Games has offered an early tip-off release date to those who purchased the deluxe version of the game.

NBA 2K23 console

You can count on the release of NBA 2K23 for current generation platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.

As of now you can also expect a release on Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, PS4, PS4 Slim, and PS4 Pro. It’s not the newest and greatest model, but we’ll probably see support for the platform continue in 2023.

Remember, the NBA 2K series supported PS3 and Xbox 360 until the release of NBA 2K19 in fall 2018. The console has been supported since NBA 2K6 (Xbox 360) and NBA 2K7 (PS3).

So, if you’re a big fan of the NBA 2K series, there’s no need to panic if you can’t find the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 in stock right now.

NBA 2K23 cover

NBA 2K22 features four players on the cover.

The NBA 2K22 standard edition features Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Donči. Dončić is also on the front of the Cross-Gen Digital Bundle.

The NBA’s 75th Anniversary 2K22 Edition features three legends on the cover: Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

And for the first time ever, there’s a WNBA star on the cover of NBA 2K. Chicago Sky striker Candace Parker is in front of the GameStop-exclusive NBA 2K22 WNBA 25th Anniversary Edition. It’s also exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

We don’t yet know who will appear on the cover of NBA 2K23, but you can expect some stellar players and announcements well in advance of the game’s release date.

NBA 2K23 Edition

As usual, you can expect several versions of NBA 2K.

There are three versions of NBA 2K22. There’s the NBA 2K22 Standard Edition, the NBA 2K22 Cross-Gen Digital Bundle, and the NBA 2K22 NBA 75th Anniversary Edition. Each has a different price point and a different set of bonuses.

Bundles usually come with Virtual Currency (VC), MyTEAM bonuses, and cosmetic items for the game’s popular MyPLAYER mode.

Standard editions typically retail for $59.99 for older platforms and $69.99 for newer consoles. The Cross-Digital bundle initially retails for $79.99 while the Anniversary Edition retails for $99.99 overall. We can see 2K maintain the same price tag for NBA 2K23.

We’ll probably see some NBA 2K23 deals pop up early on, but most NBA 2K23 deals will likely arrive around Black Friday in November, the holidays in December, and in 2023 as we push for the inevitable release of NBA 2K24.

NBA 2K23 Pre-Order

Don’t expect NBA 2K23 to be on sale for at least a few months. Pre-orders for NBA 2K23 will begin when the publisher announces the game and its edition.

Make sure you don’t pre-order NBA 2K23 from eBay or another service that promises early access to NBA 2K23 at this stage of the game.

You can expect 2K to provide a pre-order bonus to attract buyers. To give you an idea of what to expect, here’s a pre-order bonus if you pre-order a copy of the NBA 2K22 standard edition for console or Windows PC:

  • 5,000 Virtual Currency
  • 5,000 MyTEAM Points
  • 10 MyTEAM Promo Packages (sent once a week)
  • Upgrades for each type of MyCAREER Skills
  • Boost for each type of Gatorade Boost
  • Luka Dončić MyPLAYER Jersey
  • 95 Value Luka Dončić MyTEAM . Free Agent Card

The NBA 2K23 pre-order bonus won’t reflect this exactly as Luka Donči probably won’t be on the cover, but it will probably be pretty similar.

Features of NBA 2K23

Last year, like previous years, it took a while for 2K Sports and Visual Dynamics to roll down NBA 2K22 features. We wish they were a little more transparent this year but, again, we’re not holding our breath.

Currently, we know almost nothing about this game. That said, you can expect a lot of improvements and changes with a particular focus on the current generation platforms (Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5).

We will update this post as we learn more.

NBA 2K23 Demo

2K used to release short demos of the next NBA 2K game before the official release date. The demo will let players try out a portion of the game before deciding whether to buy the full version or not.

Unfortunately, after years of providing demos, the company refused to offer a demo of NBA 2K22. It is unclear whether NBA 2K23 will suffer the same fate.

NBA 2K23 Microtransactions

While it would be great to see 2K following other companies and removing the microtransactions that interfere with gaming, they are cash and we hope to see Virtual Currency (VC) up and back in NBA 2K23.

NBA 2K23 PC Requirements

If you are planning to play NBA 2K23 on Windows PC, you should pay attention to the minimum and recommended spec requirements.

Unfortunately, those details won’t arrive until we get closer to the official release, so it might be a good idea to hold off on pre-orders until it does.

6 Reasons to Wait for iPhone 14 & 5 Reasons Not to

Wait for the Hole-Push Design

Wait for the Hole-Push Design

If you hate Apple’s notch, you might be in luck because it looks like the company is making significant changes to the iPhone design.

Apple didn’t eliminate the notch in 2021 but the iPhone 13 series has a smaller notch than the iPhone 12 series and previous iPhone models.

In 2022, Apple will reportedly ditch the notch in favor of a punch-hole design. Rumors came from respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He repeated this in a more recent note though he said the changes might be limited to the iPhone 14 Pro model.

Ross Young Analyst believe that while the iPhone 14 Pro model will be the only one to have this new design, the hole-punch design is likely to come to all iPhone models by 2023. Young has reaffirmed this stance in a new report.

Korean publication Elec support this rumor and claim Samsung Display will help with the manufacturing process. Like Kuo, the site says the new design will be limited to the Pro model.

Latest report from Elec states that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will come with LTPO OLED screens with holes.

The panels will reportedly be supplied by Samsung and LG. Another report from the same publication highlights more of Samsung’s OLED plans for the iPhone 14.

If true, it would put the iPhone more in line with Samsung’s high-end Galaxy phones which also sport a hole-punch design.

Hole punch isn’t as invasive as the notch should be music to the ears of those who don’t like the notch.

Jon Prosser has shared pictures of the alleged schematic of the iPhone 14 Pro and they show what the hole looks like.

91Mobile has shared a render of the alleged iPhone 14 Pro design. The site says this is based on a leaked CAD drawing. They show circular, pill-shaped cutouts in place of the notch.

leaker @dylandkt suggest the iPhone 14 Pro model will have a pill-shaped camera cutout located at the top of the screen.

We have heard that the iPhone 14 Pro design has been finalized as supplies have entered the trial production phase of the new iPhone model.

guess CAD drawing of the iPhone 14 Pro Max hints at thinner screen bezels. As for the lower-end iPhone 14 models, they are expected to have the same thickness and bezel size as the iPhone 13 series.

We’ve also seen a render of the alleged design that Apple will implement on the lower-end iPhone 14 model. Render, from MySmartPricehints at the almost unchanged design of the iPhone 13.

The device in the picture has a notch and also has the same rear camera setup as the iPhone 13.

We’ve also seen leaks of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max display panel corroborate all this information.

Apple won a patent for an under-display camera for biometric authentication on iPhones so it’s pretty clear the company is working to get rid of the notch at some point. It’s just a matter of when.

If you’re not happy with the look of your iPhone 12 or iPhone 13, consider waiting for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
